About The ITAB
The NSW Public Services ITAB provides independent advice on training and workforce development for the Corrective Services, Police, Defence, Public Safety, Fire and Emergency Services, Local Government, Public Sector and Water industries.
We consult with industry and training system stakeholders to ensure vocational education and training aligns with current and emerging workforce needs.
The Public Services ITAB is one of ten NSW Industry Training Advisory Bodies (ITABs) which are independent, industry-led organisations that advise the NSW Government on skills, workforce and vocational education and training (VET) needs.
Our Industry Advisory Committee brings together representatives from unions and public services organisations across Corrective Services, Police, Defence, Public Safety, Fire and Emergency Services, Local Government, Public Sector and Water to ensure that the advice we give government is evidence-based and timely.
The ITAB engages with employers, associations, peak bodies, RTOs and unions to consult on the following key areas:
• Industry labour and skills needs, training priorities and development issues for VET in NSW
• Training access across regional and remote NSW and barriers to quality delivery
• Barriers to industry’s uptake of funded training
• Uptake of apprenticeship and traineeship arrangements in NSW including school-based arrangements
• Implications for training provision in NSW through the development and review of National Training Packages
• Promotion of vocational education and training to school students
